Here at Alfa Romeo Santa Monica, people often want to classify our inventory into two categories: new and “used.” While the first option is a legitimate one—we have plenty of great new Alfa Romeo models at our facility—the second option requires a little more explanation.
Specifically, we want to break down the difference between certified pre-owned Alfa Romeo models and regular pre-owned models.
What is Certified Pre-Owned?
To start, let’s discuss certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles, which offer a handful of advantages over regular pre-owned models. These models have been used lightly and are relatively new, often from very recent model years.
Most notably, CPO vehicles include several advantages over regular pre-owned models, including:
- Seven-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty
- Three-month/3,000-mile Maximum Care Coverage
- 24-hour towing and roadside assistance
- Car rental allowance
- Complimentary CARFAX® vehicle history report
- Three-month SiriusXM™ satellite radio subscription
- Lifetime certified warranty upgrades
Pre-Owned vs. CPO
For starters, regular pre-owned models don’t come with the aforementioned benefits, but our CPO models are newer and better conditioned in the first place. CPO Alfa Romeo models must be less than five years old and have fewer than 50,000 miles.
CPO vehicles must also undergo 175-point vehicle inspections, and any defects will be replaced before being put onto the showroom floor.
Which Option is Best for You?
Newer models with these benefits obviously are going to cost a bit more than older, non-certified models, so your own budgetary needs can play into your decision. More importantly, though, it’s about finding the right vehicle.
